The microphone does not work whenever I need to use it, whether in a Microsoft Teams meeting or any other application.

When I check Device Manager, the microphone appears to be installed correctly. To make it work again, I have to uninstall the microphone device, restart the computer, and then it functions normally. However, after shutting down or restarting the computer, the same issue occurs again.

I have already tried uninstalling the microphone and installing the latest driver provided on the HP support website, but the problem persists.

This issue is not limited to a single computer. I have several HP ProOne 440 G9 23.8-inch systems experiencing the exact same behavior. It does not matter whether I use the built-in microphone or a USB microphone—the issue occurs with both.

Could be "fast start"

Disable fast start as the image of the OS it holds probably has the microphone disabled.
To disable fast startup on Windows, open the Control Panel, navigate to Power Options, then "Choose what the power buttons do," and under Shutdown settings, uncheck the "Turn on fast startup" box; if the option is greyed out, click "Change settings that are currently unavailable" first.  Re-enable fast startup when the microphone is working

Could be the power plan

Bring up the device manager and

for every USB root hub or Generic USB hub, prevent the USB from sleeping as Follows:

  • Right-click → Properties
  • Power Management
  • Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

the above is for USB microphone but I suspect your built-in microphone also uses the USB buss.

Is your system using Intsl's smart sound technology?

Disable power management on Intel SST
In Device Manager:

  • System Devices
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology
  • Power Management tab (if present)
  • Uncheck:

Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

I found the above here

try some of the other recommendations.
