HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0003dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Multiple laptops of this model have lost their audio - either speaker/headphone reports no device found or microphone is missing. Mix of Windows 10/64 bit and Windows 11. These all started yesterday, Monday, Feb. 6th. I've tried updating audio drivers to no effect. I even did a system restore to a restore point of 2/3/23 with no change in missing audio devices.

Try this fix from a different post - worked for all my laptops - h/t to Jellingtonbean!

Update: several more hours of fiddling and fretting later and I HAVE FIXED IT!!

All the tips and suggestions I read and was given were pointing me to the wrong device drivers for my issue.  For me, it was the Intel Smart Sound Technology  (Intel (R) SST) OED, way way down the Device Manager list, under System Devices, which was displaying a tiny yellow warning triangle.  I updated that driver (it was found automatically) and my sound is back on.

I hope this will help someone else.

@TLA-Beloit

Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

   (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
                 https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp111501-112000/sp111549.exe

   (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
   (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
   (d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Thank you so much for posting this! I spent hours fiddling, updating BIOS, Updating Drivers, running the useless Audio Check app in HP support and going from site to site and the minute I checked the Device manager for the issue you mentioned, I found the same thing. You've saved me endless hours of grief.

check your HP assistant online that takes you to your site of the laptop model you have and see if th audio is still seen from that portal
