Hello, i have a HP Notebook - 17-x108ca . it is only like 1 month old and the mute light stopped working. it does not turn on and off like its supposed to but the key still mutes and un mutes when i press the f6 key. any suggestions on how to fix? thanks

it is very simple, download ubuntu 16.04 iso, put it on a usb key using rufus and then, boot the laptop from that usb.

it seems that it is a hardware issue. maybe the led is broken. 

you can try a live usb with linux (ubuntu) and see if the led works or not.
