ProBook 6570b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased a refurbished HP ProBook 6570b running Windows 10 that works flawlessly , with one minor exception.  The mute/unmute button is stuck on amber.  It works, it mutes and unmutes with a touch of the button, but the button color never changes from amber to white.

Yes, I have read DOZENS of posts on this subject and tried just about every recommended set of steps to resolve this issue, including but not limited to trying to update the audio drivers, removing/reinstalling audio drivers, etc.

There is a wealth of information for just about every sound card that I see out there.  Unfortunately, the sound card or controller in this computer is not manufactured by IDT, Realtek or any of the vendors where there might be an actual currently updated driver or previously discussed solution in these boards.  When I go down the route of some of those recommendations, I cannot install driver updates for a sound card that I simply don't have.  Device Manager lists my sound card/controller simply as "High Definition Audio Device", which I believe is the standard generic Intel audio sound card that comes stock with these computers when they are configured bare bones. I can't find anything on either the HP or Intel sites to update this driver and give me a shot at getting that light to work correctly again.  There is another listing under Device Manager>Sound for "Intel Display Audio", but previously posts in the community seemed to point towards this not being relevant to the discussion.  It's that "High Definition Audio Device" that seems to govern the mute/unmute light on the keyboard (I think), and to the best of my knowledge, I've got the most current drivers installed.  Did it over and over again.

Maybe other components or drivers are involved here?

In any case, does anyone have any specific advice for this computer and sound card, in terms of getting that mute/unmute button to work correctly again?  Again, the button does "work", but as much as I enjoy the amber light, I'd like to get it to change to white as appropriate.

Thanks.

SOLVED - the reseller provided me with the solution. It is an IDT card, and the correct driver for this computer can be found at:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60001-60500/sp60317.exe

I now have a fully functional mute button that changes colors.

Update - I have tried two additional steps that also did not work:

1.) Updated the BIOS to the most current version.

2.) Attempted to install the Windows 7 audio driver for the RealTek audio sound card/controller.  Not sure if it would even work because I don't think that the computer has a RealTek device but they call their sound card/controller "High Definition Audio Device" just like Microsoft so maybe it's private labelled/OEM?  In any case, it didn't work, didn't even install, and as soon as I rebooted the system automatically reinstalled the stock drivers when it scanned for "new" hardware.  And it dawned on me that even if I was able to successfully install a Windows 7 driver for the correct sound card/controller, Windows Update would update it to a "better" Windows 10 driver the first shot that it had.

I am out of ideas.  Help.
