I have a very annoying bug: every time I mute the audio of the speakers of my notebook, I can't unmute it!
I have the latest BIOS, Windows updates, Drivers from HP Support.
So, how is it even possible? It has ALWAYS been like that, since I bought it a couple of years ago.

I used to have the same problem (actually, I still have that same exact problme), but I found a way to unmute the audio of the speakers, once they are muted and frozen mute: I disable the device and enable it back, in the Device Manager.
Do this:
- Start the device manager C:\Windows\System32\hdwwiz.cpl
- Disable (and confirm with OK in the dialog box that pops-up) and Re-Enable the Speaker in the Audio Input and Output branch (see picture)
The procedure above enables the audio of the speakers every time: I disable and re-enable the device.
If you want, you can test the speakers using the Audio configuration panel. Do this:
- open the Audio panel C:\Windows\System32\mmsys.cpl
- right click on the speaker icon and Test it (see picture)
Please notice: the Audio panel has Disable and Enable commands, too, BUT THEY DON'T FIX THE ISSUE. You MUST disable and enable the device in the Device Manager ( C:\Windows\System32\hdwwiz.cpl ). Use the Audio Panel, just to test the audio, not to fix the problem.
