Hi @RAMMPM,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion 15 (NO17sg) laptop has no sound from the internal speakers but works fine with external speakers, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to identify and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check Volume Settings

  • Ensure the internal speakers are not muted or set to a very low volume:
    • Click on the speaker icon in the system tray and adjust the volume slider.

2. Check Sound Output Device

  • Ensure the correct playback device is selected:
    1. Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.Go to the Playback tab.
    2. Make sure Speakers (or the internal speaker name) is set as the default device. If it's not, right-click on it and select Set as Default Device.

3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  • Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can help identify issues:
    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.Click on Additional troubleshooters and select Playing Audio.Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix issues.

4. Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers

  • Check if the audio drivers are up to date:
    1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section. Right-click on your audio device and select Update driver.
    2. If it was recently updated and issues started, you can also try Roll Back Driver.

5. Check Audio Settings in Control Panel

  • Sometimes settings can affect audio output:
    1. Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound. In the Playback tab, right-click on your speakers and select Properties.Go to the Advanced tab and ensure the default format is set correctly (try changing it to a different format).

6. Check for Physical Issues

  • Ensure there are no physical obstructions in the speaker grills and that the speakers are not damaged.

7. Restore Audio Settings to Default

  1. In the Playback tab, right-click on the speakers and select Properties.Go to the Advanced tab and click Restore Defaults.

8. BIOS Settings:

  1. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F10, F2, or ESC during startup).Check for any audio-related settings and ensure they are enabled.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
