Spectre X360 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop makes a notification sound (like when an email is received) at random times.  It is not tied to any apparent event occurring on the computer.  I have turned offf all notification sounds in Windows.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I read that you have HP Spectre x360 laptop and it makes random notification sounds though there is no event occurring on the laptop. You have even turned off the notification sounds in Windows and issue persists. I appreciate the immense effort you put in to troubleshoot.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Since how long are the notification sounds appearing?
  • Did you check for any programs running the background that may be causing the notification sounds to appear?

Meanwhile, I suggest you to review the steps from this video to disable to notification sounds and check if this is exactly what you have tried.

NOTE: This is a third party link and I suggest you to ignore any ads and do not go for paid suggestions.

Also, please review the below method:

  • Click the lower-left Start button, input sound and select Sound from the results to open Sound settings.

  •  In the Sound dialog, open Sounds and choose Notification in the program events.

  • Tap the Sounds bar, select (None) in the list and click OK.

I'm positive this information should help. Feel free to let me know how it goes. Thank you for your patience. Cheers! 🙂
