Hi @SD174

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how inconvenient it must feel when the microphone isn’t working as expected, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already put into checking your HP Envy x360.

Let’s go step by step to bring the audio input back to life:

Check Input Device Selection

  • On Windows, right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
  • Under Input, make sure the correct microphone (Internal Microphone or Headset Mic if connected) is selected.
  • Speak into the microphone and watch the input level bar to confirm activity.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to System > Sound.
  • Scroll down and select Troubleshoot under Input.
  • Follow the guided steps to detect and fix issues automatically.

Update Audio Drivers

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
  • Right-click your microphone device and choose Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  • Do the same under Sound, video and game controllers for Realtek or Intel audio devices.

Check Privacy Settings

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Privacy & security > Microphone.
  • Ensure Microphone access is turned on.
  • Scroll down and confirm apps that need microphone access are enabled.

Test with HP Audio Control or HP App

  • Open the HP App on your laptop.
  • Select your device, then go to Audio Settings.
  • Run a microphone test to confirm if the input is detected.

You’ve already taken good steps by noticing the input issue. With these checks—especially verifying the input device and updating drivers—you should be able to restore clear microphone functionality.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
