audio not working

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your HP laptop's audio. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to get it working again:

Check Volume Settings:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
  • Select "Open Sound settings" and ensure the volume is not muted or set too low.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select "Playing Audio" and run the troubleshooter.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
  • Right-click your audio device and select "Update driver".

Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click your audio device and select "Uninstall device".
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Check Sound Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Sound.
  • Ensure your audio device is set as the default playback device.
