My audio stops working unpredictably — sometimes daily, sometimes after months — and Microsoft support advised me to contact HP for updated or stable drivers to resolve this.

Resolving Audio Issues on HP Computers

If you're experiencing unpredictable audio problems on your HP computer, try the following steps to update, diagnose, and troubleshoot your audio drivers and settings:

1. Restart the Computer

A simple restart can clear temporary glitches that may be affecting audio.

2. Run the Audio Check in HP Support Assistant

If you don’t have HP Support Assistant installed, download and install it.

Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.

Go to the My Dashboard tab.

Click Fixes & Diagnostics, then select Audio Check.

Follow the on-screen instructions to run the test and apply any recommended fixes.

3. Use the Windows Sound Troubleshooter

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.

Select Troubleshoot sound problems.

Follow the guided steps to detect and fix issues automatically.

4. Check for Audio Driver Updates

Search for Check for updates in Windows and install any available updates.

You can also download the latest audio drivers manually:

Visit the HP Customer Support – Software and Driver Downloads page.

Enter your device model.

Download and install the latest audio driver available for your system.

5. Test with External Speakers or Headphones

Connect a different set of speakers or headphones to determine whether the issue is with the internal speakers or the audio hardware.

6. Additional Support

If the issue continues, refer to HP’s advanced troubleshooting resources, such as Advanced sound troubleshooting in Windows 10,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
