Hi @Timebomb1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP ENVY 13-ay1000 x360 running Windows 11 is showing “No audio device is installed” and audio has suddenly stopped working. Let’s go through step-by-step troubleshooting to restore your audio.

1. Restart Your PC

Completely shut down the PC and wait 30 seconds.

Turn it back on and check if audio returns.

2. Check Device Manager for Audio Devices

Press Windows + X > Device Manager.

Expand Sound, video and game controllers.

If you see your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel SST), right-click > Update driver > Search automatically.

If you see a yellow triangle or “Unknown Device”, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your PC. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

If the device is missing entirely, proceed to reinstall the audio driver manually.

3. Reinstall Audio Driver

Go to the HP Support website > enter your PC model 13-ay1000 x360 > Drivers & Downloads > Audio.

Download the latest audio driver for Windows 11.

Install it, then restart your PC.

4. Enable Audio Devices

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Sounds > Playback tab.

Right-click inside the window > Show Disabled Devices.

If your audio device appears, right-click > Enable.

Set it as Default Device.

5. Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Run Playing Audio and follow the instructions.

6. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes updates reinstall or fix missing drivers.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install all pending updates.

7. BIOS / Chipset Update (Optional)

If the problem persists, check for a BIOS or chipset driver update on the HP Support site.

Outdated firmware can sometimes cause audio devices to disappear.

I hope this helps.
