My audio on my laptop is not working. I’ve done all the test. It says there’s no problem but there’s a cross through the speaker in the task bar but it’s not showing any devices for the speaker. I have reinstalled the computer several times still no luck.

Hi @Fi5658,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your laptop is not detecting the internal speaker, which may indicate a driver issue or a hardware problem. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this:
1. Check Audio Settings
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar.
- Select “Open Sound settings”.
- In the “Output” section, check if the correct output device (internal speakers) is selected. If there are no devices listed, try the next steps.
2. Update or Reinstall the Audio Driver
- Right-click the Start button and select “Device Manager”.
- Expand the “Sound, video, and game controllers” section.
- Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio or Intel Smart Sound), and choose “Uninstall device”.
- Restart the computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver. If it doesn't, follow these steps to manually reinstall it:
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest audio drivers for your HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000 (1F4D9AV) from the driver section.
- Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
3. Check Windows Audio Services
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type “services.msc” and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find “Windows Audio”.
- Right-click on it and choose “Restart”. Ensure that its startup type is set to “Automatic”.
- Also, ensure that the “Windows Audio Endpoint Builder” service is running.
4. Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Find and run the Audio troubleshooter.
- Follow the instructions provided by the troubleshooter and see if it can detect and fix any issues.
5. BIOS Settings
- Make sure the internal audio is not disabled in the BIOS. To do this, restart your computer and press F10 (or the key for BIOS setup).
- Once in the BIOS, navigate to the Advanced tab, then Device Configurations.
- Ensure that the Internal Speakers are enabled.
6. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update, and make sure that your system is fully updated.
7. Test with External Audio Devices
- Connect a pair of headphones or external speakers to check if audio works through those devices. If external audio works but internal speakers don't, it might be a hardware issue with the internal speakers.
