Hi @Darah2002,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the audio on your HP Laptop PC 15s-Fq2000. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

  • Check the volume level: Ensure that the volume is turned up and not muted. You can adjust the volume by using the physical volume buttons on your laptop or by clicking on the volume icon in the taskbar and adjusting the slider.
  • Update audio drivers: Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause audio problems. Visit the HP support website and search for your laptop model to find the latest audio drivers. Download and install the drivers, then restart your laptop and check if the sound is working.
  • Test with different audio sources: Connect external speakers or headphones to your laptop and see if you get any sound. If you do, it could indicate an issue with the built-in speakers. If you still don't get any sound, it may be a broader audio problem.
  • Run the audio troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve common audio issues. Right-click on the volume icon in the taskbar, select "Troubleshoot sound problems," and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.
  • Check default audio device: Sometimes, the default audio device might be set incorrectly. Right-click on the volume icon in the taskbar, select "Open Sound settings," and under the "Output" section, ensure that the correct audio device is selected.
  • Restart Windows Audio service: Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box, type "services.msc," and press Enter. In the Services window, locate "Windows Audio," right-click on it, and select "Restart." Repeat the same step for the "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" service.
  • Check HDMI audio settings: If you're connecting your laptop to an external display or TV using HDMI, ensure that the audio is set to play through the HDMI device. Right-click on the volume icon in the taskbar, select "Open Sound settings," and under the "Output" section, choose the HDMI device as the default audio output.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
