Hi @Bedecks,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's volume is too low even with the sound settings maxed out, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check External Speakers or Headphones:

  • If you’re using external speakers or headphones, try using another set to determine if the issue is with your laptop’s speakers or the external device.
  • Ensure that the external speakers or headphones are connected correctly and the volume is turned up.

Adjust Volume Settings in Windows:

  • Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
  • Check the "Volume mixer" to ensure that all applications playing sound are not set to a very low volume.
  • Set the "Output Device" to your laptop's speakers and try adjusting the volume from here.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section, right-click your audio driver (often Realtek or Conexant), and select "Update driver."
  • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.

Check Windows Enhancements:

  • Right-click the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds."
  • Go to the "Playback" tab, select your laptop's speakers, and click "Properties."
  • In the "Enhancements" tab, make sure that no sound effects (like bass boost) are turned on, as they can affect volume.

Restart the Audio Service:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate the "Windows Audio" service, right-click on it, and select "Restart."

Check for Physical Blockages:

  • Ensure there is no physical blockage (dust or obstruction) covering the laptop's speakers.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Sound."
  • Click on "Sound Troubleshooter" and follow the prompts to identify and fix issues.

Check Volume Mixer Settings:

  • If you're using third-party applications like media players or browsers (e.g., YouTube), ensure the volume is set correctly within those applications.

Adjust BIOS Settings:

  • Sometimes, there might be an issue at the BIOS level that limits sound output. Restart your laptop and check the BIOS settings if you have access to those (usually via pressing F2 or DEL at startup).

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you recently updated drivers or made system changes, a system restore might revert back to a previous state where the volume was working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
