Hi @MarkM1966

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying that out clearly—if Microsoft Teams is detecting your Bluetooth headset for audio output but not recognizing its microphone, and even your built-in mic isn’t working, it’s likely a device permissions or driver conflict

Let’s walk through a structured fix:

Step-by-Step Fix for Microphone Not Working in Teams

1. Check Windows Privacy Settings

Teams needs explicit permission to access your mic.

  • Press Win + I → SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMicrophone
  • Make sure:
    • Microphone access is turned ON
    • Let apps access your microphone is ON
    • Scroll down and ensure Microsoft Teams is enabled

2. Select the Correct Mic in Teams

  • Open Teams → Click your profile icon → SettingsDevices
  • Under Microphone, manually select your Bluetooth headset or internal mic
  • Click Make a test call to verify

Even if the mic appears selected, reselecting it forces Teams to reinitialize audio routing.

3. Disable Bluetooth LE Enumerator

This often interferes with headset mic detection.

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Bluetooth
  • Right-click Bluetooth LE EnumeratorDisable device

This fix has resolved mic issues for many Bluetooth headset users.

4. Update Bluetooth & Audio Drivers

  • Go to HP’s support site and enter your laptop model
  • Download and install:
    • Latest Bluetooth driver
    • Latest Audio driver (Realtek, Intel, or Conexant depending on your system)

Outdated or generic drivers can block Teams from accessing the mic properly.

5. Try the Web Version of Teams

  • Go to teams.microsoft.com in Chrome or Edge
  • Grant mic permissions when prompted
  • If it works here, the issue is isolated to the desktop client

6. Reset Teams Cache

  • Close Teams completely
  • Press Win + R, type:%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
  • Delete all contents in the folder
  • Restart Teams and reconfigure audio devices

Let me know your laptop model and headset brand if you want help locating exact drivers or checking compatibility. You're clearly doing everything right—just need to get Teams and Windows to play nice with your mic.
