HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4 Notebook PC (6MJ78AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm running a Windows 11 25H2 OS version, and my sound is not working. I've tried to restart the system, but it's still not working, so I don't know what to do. I've tried to update it, but it's still not working. What else can be done?

Hi @Kennethlite

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are facing issues with your HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4 Notebook PC as the sound is not working. I understand how inconvenient it is when your audio stops working, especially after you've already tried restarting the system and updating Windows. To help determine the cause, could you please let me know if the issue affects the built-in speakers, headphones, or both, and whether any audio devices or warning icons appear in Device Manager?

Meanwhile I would request you to please follow the steps:

Check the Audio Output

  • Select the speaker icon on the taskbar.
  • Make sure the volume is not muted.
  • Click the output device selector and verify that Speakers (Realtek Audio) or the appropriate playback device is selected instead of Bluetooth or HDMI.

Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter.
  • Apply any fixes that Windows recommends.

Restart Windows Audio Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
  • Ensure both services are Running and set to Automatic.
  • Restart both services.

Reinstall the Audio Driver

  • Press Windows + X and open Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click Realtek Audio (or Intel Smart Sound Technology if listed) and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart the notebook.
  • Use HP Support Assistant to reinstall the correct audio driver.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
