I just bought the laptop two months ago and most of the time I hear crackling sounds. I saw an article on how to fix this problem by choosing the highest volume that the speaker has but it did not work!
PS. I am using wireless internet.
Thanks

You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Did this happen after a software update or a windows update?
- Did you connect a headset to the headset port and check if there is any crackling from the headset?
- Please furnish the complete model# of the unit.
Please perform these steps for starters.
- Please connect a headset to the headset port and check again. If there is no crackling from the headset, then the speakers are defective and need to be replaced.
- Please contact HP phone support to get them replaced and the unit serviced.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
The factory warranty should take care of repair services for you.
If there is a crackling noise from the headset also, then uninstall the sound drivers from device manager.
Steps: right –click on start> device manager> expand sound video and game controllers> right-click on the audio driver and click on uninstall.
Remember to check the box “delete the software for this device”. Then restart the computer and update the latest bios, chipset and audio drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers
- Please select the country and type the product# of the unit.
- Then follow the on-screen instructions to update the drivers and check if this resolves the issue.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Thanks @DavidSMP.
I am not sure when it happened because I did not notice it at first, my friend told me about it.
I do not hear any crackling sound when I use my earphones, I only hear it when using the speaker.
For some reason, I could not find the video and game controllers. So instead, I opened the sound icon and went to the speaker and I clicked on enable and then I allowed it again.
I also opened the link that you gave me, which is this one: http://hp.com/drivers, and I installed the Realtek from HB. I am not sure if that helps but I will let you know after few days whether I still hear crackling sounds or not.
Thanks a lot 🙂

Hi @KSJ97,
I thank you for your super quick response. It has been amazing working with you and sharing this platform with you. 🙂 Your technical skills and expertise has made a mark on me and impressed me a great deal. Hats off to you for that. 🙂
If the speakers are making the crackling noise, then they need to be replaced because if it was anything to do with the drivers, then the headset would have done the same thing. The drivers are fine.
Besides, the fact the computer being under warranty suggests that you just need to contact HP phone support and it will be done for you without hesitation. Please back up your files before you send it in.
Trust me I've done everything I can to assist you here by keeping your best interest in mind. I hope the unit works great and stays healthy for a long time. 🙂

You take care, stay healthy, keep smiling big and do have a blessed year ahead. 🙂
