Hi Echo_Lake, I forgot to mention that I have reset the PC to factory settings and with the option *keep my files* and *restore from my PC*, after a few hours the PC started up again in its last state namely Windows 10 21H2 which of course is not the condition in which it was bought????. My self-installed apps were removed but my files were kept. After this action I was able to install and test the HP Support Assistant version 8, but as already mentioned to no avail. With kind regards, Erik

I have a similar problem, my Welcome tone/sound and all audio sound like a crackle distortion of an old vinyl recording or distorted radio transmission. I tried to download the audio driver update, this did not change the sound. I wish I knew how to change this, the sound is my major use for this device.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Have you tried with earphones or a headset?
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

Hi Echo_Lake, here I am again and this time with good news, after a hard reset of Windows it was possible to install the correct drivers via HP support, I first installed the new BIOS driver, then the Chipset driver and that was already the solution for the Battery and touch screen application and afterwards the audio driver for the sound. Everything is back to normal now so thanks again for your help. With Kind Regards, Erik

Hi Echo_Lake, I have one last comment, I don't know what HP Support Assistant can really do but I have had HP computers for over 15 years and so far HP SA has never been able to solve a problem, this time to solve the problem with the battery application it just gave the message that no battery was present and the same for the speakers? With Kind Regards, Erik
