Hi everyone

I opened up the teams app to go online and for some reason I had no sound coming from the other person.  I have tried to resolve it but no luck.  They can hear me but I cant hear them, no sound from a thing.  The sound button on the bottom of the screen has an X on it. It says the output has no device attached  It was working before I opened the teams on the laptop now i cant fix it.  Any advice please.

@KarenMaree18, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Physical Output Devices

Make sure no external devices like Bluetooth headphones or HDMI monitors are connected, as Windows may have switched the output to them.

Re-enable Audio Output Device

Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner).

Select "Sounds" or "Sound settings".

Under Output, make sure a valid device like “Speakers (Realtek)” is selected.

If it says "No output device installed", continue to next step.

Restart Windows Audio Services

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Scroll down and find:

Windows Audio

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

Right-click each and select Restart.

Reinstall or Update Audio Drivers

Press Windows + X, choose Device Manager.

Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".

Right-click your sound device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, etc.), then:

Try Update driver > "Search automatically".

If no update works, try Uninstall device (don’t delete driver software).

Restart your computer to reinstall the driver automatically.

Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Click Run next to Playing Audio.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
