Microsoft Windows 11

I have the correct version of Windows 11 installed but LE Audio is still not available.  Apparently this HP laptop doesn't have the function installed.  How can I get the LE Audio added to my HP laptop.  I need to connect my hearing aids to my laptop.  Is there some driver that I need to install?  Please advise.

Hi @DJakaDennis,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You’re absolutely right, it’s more than just the Windows version. LE Audio requires a full stack:

  • Bluetooth hardware that supports LE Audio (not just Bluetooth LE).
  • Up-to-date drivers for both the Bluetooth chipset and audio subsystem.
  • Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer.

Step-by-Step Solution

1. Confirm Windows version

Go to Settings → System → About and ensure you're on Windows 11 24H2 or later.

If not, go to Settings → Windows Update and install all pending updates.

2. Update Bluetooth & audio drivers

  1. Visit the Official HP® Support page for your specific laptop model.
  2. Download the latest Bluetooth chipset and audio subsystem drivers (usually from Intel, Realtek, or AMD).
    • HP does not offer a separate LE Audio driver; support is integrated into the chipset and audio drivers.
  3. Install them and reboot your laptop.

3. Check hardware compatibility

  1. Open Device Manager → Bluetooth → Right‑click your Bluetooth adapter → Properties → Details tab.
  2. Look for lines mentioning the LC3 codec, TMAP, or explicit LE Audio support.
    • If missing, your current hardware isn't LE Audio compatible.

4. Enable LE Audio in system settings

Once updated and rebooted:

  1. Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
  2. If supported, you’ll now see a toggle for “Use LE Audio when available.” Enable it.

If hardware does not support LE Audio

If your laptop’s built-in Bluetooth lacks LE Audio:

  • Consider a USB Bluetooth dongle that explicitly supports LE Audio (Bluetooth 5.2+).
    1. Plug it in and install its drivers.
  • This workaround enables LE Audio capability without replacing your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
