HP 470 G8 Notebook PC (2W3N4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. I need help with two issues on my laptop:

I have a problem with sound on my laptop. There is no audio at all. Windows shows “No output devices found”, and sound does not work in any application.

This issue started after I reinstalled/upgraded my system from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

In Device Manager I see an Unknown device with the following hardware ID:
ACPI\VEN_HPIC&DEV_0003

I also see the audio device with this hardware ID:
INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0236&SUBSYS_103C883D&REV_1000
(High Definition Audio)

I already tried reinstalling multiple drivers, including:

  • Chipset drivers

  • Intel drivers

  • Realtek audio drivers

  • High Definition Audio drivers

I uninstalled and reinstalled these drivers several times, but the issue is still not resolved and audio output devices are not detected.

I would also like to ask if this problem could be related to a Windows version mismatch.
When downloading drivers from the HP website, I selected Windows 11 22H2, because Windows 11 25H2 was not available, but my system is currently Windows 11 25H2.

Please help me resolve this issue and advise which exact drivers or steps I should follow.

Thank you very much.

Hello @Gusi012,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Your issue is caused by a missing or incorrect HP System Interface / Hotkey / Audio Bus dependency, not by the Realtek driver itself.

On HP business notebooks (including the 470 G8😞

  • Audio will not enumerate unless HP-specific ACPI drivers are installed first.

  • The unknown device
    ACPI\VEN_HPIC&DEV_0003
is a critical HP System Interface device.

  • When this device is missing, Windows cannot expose Realtek audio endpoints, resulting in:

    “No output devices found”

This problem commonly appears after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Correct Fix (Do These Steps IN THIS ORDER)

STEP 1 — Install HP System Interface Foundation (CRITICAL)

This resolves:

  • ACPI\VEN_HPIC&DEV_0003

  • Audio device detection

  • Function key & firmware communication

  1. Go to HP Support → Drivers → HP 470 G8

  2. Select Windows 11 (22H2)

  3. Download and install:
    HP System Interface Foundation

  4. Restart the laptop

📌 After reboot:

  • The Unknown device should disappear

  • Device Manager should show HP System Interface under System devices

STEP 2 — Install Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST)

This is required before Realtek audio will work.

Install (from HP support page):

  • Intel Smart Sound Technology (Audio Controller)

  • Intel Smart Sound Technology (OED / BUS driver)

Restart again.

STEP 3 — Install HP-Provided Realtek Audio Driver

Do not use generic Realtek or Windows Update drivers.

  1. Install HP Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver

  2. Restart

STEP 4 — Verify Device Manager

After reboot, confirm:

Sound, video and game controllers

  • Realtek High Definition Audio

System devices

  • Intel Smart Sound Technology

  • HP System Interface Foundation

No unknown devices

STEP 5 — Reset Windows Audio Services

  1. Press Win + R

  2. Type services.msc

  3. Restart:

    • Windows Audio

    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

If Audio Still Does Not Appear (Advanced Fix)

BIOS Audio Reset

  1. Restart → Press F10 (BIOS)

  2. Load Setup Defaults

  3. Ensure:

    • Internal Audio = Enabled

  4. Save & Exit

Final Verification

After completing all steps:

  • Volume icon should reappear

  • Sound settings should list:

    • Speakers (Realtek Audio)

  • Audio should work in all applications.

Hope this helps!
