Laptop 15-bw011dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I have a webcam that came with my laptop. I made a short video and then I tested it to make sure it was OK. No matter what I do, I cannot get any sound. However, I am able to get sound through the laptop speakers and with a headset when I play a commercial DVD.

The Audio Playback Test and the Webcam Connection Test passed (I thought they would) and the Device Manager stated that the components had up-to-date drivers. I used the Troubleshooter for sound problems, but everything was fine.

Since I can get sound when playing a DVD  but not when I create a video with the webcam, what could the problem be and what is the solution?

Thank you.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are not getting sound while creating a Video with Webcam.

Update the webcam driver

  1. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.

  2. In Device Manager, double-click Imaging devices.

  3. Right-click your webcam or video device, then select Update Driver Software.

  4. In the Update Driver Software window, select Search automatically for updated driver software.

Figure : Update Driver Software window

    Update Driver Software window
  5. After the message, Windows has successfully updated your driver software, or The best driver software for your device is already installed, click Close.

  6. Open YouCam to see if the application opens and the driver update resolves the error message.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, Windows stated that the drivers were up-to-date.

I have been trying to download and install the version 1803 updates with no success. This laptop has been nothing but trouble since I received it and the HP repair facility has not been any help in solving the sluggishness of the laptop.

Do you have any other tips or could it be that the version 1803 updates are the answer to my problem?

Thank you.

Thank you for your response. Instead of troubleshooting yet another problem on this laptop, I have decided to send this laptop back because it is too problematic. I hope I can get a better one.:Laptop:
