So not sure if the recent update caused my audio and speaker/microphone to no longer work. I have tried all the troubleshooting options, and because my device's warranty has expired, my options are very limited. I'm a graduate student so trying to figure out if I should just save up for a MacBook. Has anyone else faced this or is currently facing this issue as well?

This computer has given me so many headaches.

Hi @rlm95479,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Have you made any changes to your OS or any other software?

Let's start off by Uninstalling the audio drivers from the Device manager:

Right-Click on the start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers.

Then check the box and delete the software for this device.

Now restart the computer and then update the Bios, Chipset, and Audio drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer to this video link to know how to use the HP support assistant.

Once done, restart the computer and check if that works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I just had the same issue after I updated to the latest windows 10  version 22H2 yesterday I tried your suggestion and it did not work. In device manager the "Intel High Definition Audio" is now filed under other devices with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it. When I try to update it's drivers I get an error saying Windows could not find any drivers for it.
