No audio device is installed is the message I get.  There is no audio.  Under Device Manager, when I click on the sound folder, nothing is listed.  I have downloaded Realtek audio driver, but it does not install.  This all of a sudden happened several days ago.

Please try a clean install Audio driver

1. Download https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp131501-132000/sp131797.exe

                 and save on your computer
2. Use Device Manager to uninstall audio driver (if any),
3. Reboot machine,
4. Install downloaded file above,
5. Reboot machine.

Hope this helps.

I downloaded it and followed all of the prompts.  It still does not show up in device manager and I continue to get the no audio device is installed.  It did not work.

I did as you suggested and it did not work.  After the reboot, there is no driver listed under Sounds in the device manager.

Still no sound.  I get sound with earbuds.  But no sound otherwise.

Thanks for trying.  I hope there is something else.  I see others have the same problem.

Success.  I went into Control Panel and there was a Realtek audio exe file under programs.  I did not look there initially.  I uninstalled it and then restarted the computer, installed the driver you put in your comment, and sound came back on.

Now in Device Manager, it shows the driver.

So I guess uninstalling a Realtek program that was listed under programs but not showing up in Device Manager, and then installing what you gave me, worked.

Thanks for your help.
