HP Notebook - 14-cf0013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

So, after an auto update, the audio stopped working, and I contacted the Microsoft support, and they told me that there isn't any audio driver for the new update. I reversed the update but still the sound is not working. Also, Microsoft support tried several solutions, but nothing worked. What should I do in this case?

Hi @Ayat-Sal,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with the audio driver on your HP Notebook after updating to Windows 11, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix temporary glitches. Restart your HP Notebook and check if the audio driver starts working again.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Windows 11 may have additional updates that include fixes for known audio driver issues. Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on "Check for updates." Install any available updates and restart your computer if prompted.
  • Update audio driver: Visit the HP support website (https://support.hp.com) and navigate to the Drivers & Downloads section. Enter the model number or let the website automatically detect your HP Notebook. Look for the latest audio driver compatible with Windows 11 and download it. Install the driver and restart your computer.
  • Run the Audio Troubleshooter: Windows 11 has a built-in troubleshooting tool that can help identify and fix common audio problems. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Under "Find and fix other problems," locate the "Playing Audio" troubleshooter and run it. Follow the on-screen instructions and check if it resolves the issue.
  • Roll back the audio driver: If the audio issue started after updating the driver, you can try rolling back to the previous version. Right-click on the Start button, select Device Manager, and expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" category. Right-click on your audio device and select "Properties." Go to the "Driver" tab and click on "Roll Back Driver" if available. Follow the prompts to complete the process and restart your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
