Microsoft Windows 11

I lost sound on my HP Envy after  microsoft Win 11 Update to 24H2 build 26100.3476

By following previously written instructions I was able to delete the RealTek driver 6.0.9468.1 and install driver 10.0.26100.1

The audio then worked until I rebooted.  After the reboot, Windows replaced the newer driver with the older one, 6.0.9468.a and the audio stopped working again.

If I do a driver update, I am told the 6.0.9468 driver is the best one. (even though it does not work with the window update)

Have you made sure the driver version is 6.0.9468.a?

To check it, open device manager, expand the Sound, video, and game controllers category, then right-click on Realtek(R) Audio and select properties.

As far as I know, Realtek never makes a driver version with a letter at the end after the dot. All Realtek driver versions always end with .1

Sorry, the "a" was a typo.  the driver number is 6.0.9468.1

Thanks for your help

Problem may be solved.  Another site suggested upgrading to the RealTek 6.0.9761.1 driver.  This driver is working and as of now is not being replaced when I reboot.

I spoke too soon.  Lost sound again after re-start.  Found the new driver was again replaced by the old driver 6.0.9468.1

Is there a way to tell the system that the new driver is 6.0.9761.1?

Thanks,

Steven

Try clicking the rollback driver button, then restart your PC.

If Windows reinstalls the old version after restarting your PC, then you need CCleaner Professional Edition.

The rollback option is not available on the driver.  I will try the cc cleaner pro.

I tried the CC cleaner pro mode.  It came up with an error saying it cannot install a new audio driver.

I also tried to reinstall WIndow 11.  If I use the  microsoft update / repair tool, i end up with a "safe_os" error pointing to a driver issue.  It then reverts back to current os and drivers.

I also tried a reinstall from a usb, but I am getting stuck at the point when the software is asking for the driver files.

Is there an easy way to download the required drivers to get the win 11 os installed?

thanks,

Steven

If you have just installed Windows, you can use paid software is from[edited] (for some reason the driverpack.io website is now blocked by hBlock), one of the experts here uses it. Free software is [edited]

For the Windows 11 .ISO  and its drivers, ther should be one, as there are currently many types of modifed Windows11, such as Custom Windows 11 Ghost Spectre for example.
