 unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

i tried and this did niot help, i think it is a hardware problem the headphones work fine

I had this issue in 2018 after Win10 update on my hp pavilion dv7t-7000.

I went to the HP support site for my laptop as mentioned above but

I downloaded Windows 8 64bit driver for Audio IDT. sp52658.exe driver file.

Then installed it after uninstalling the old one.

PROBLEM SOLVED. Speakers work great again.
