I was windows 10 then upgrade to windows 11 about 18 mths ago, been working okay but was having Indexing issues with windows 11. Been working with Microsoft T3 to resolve this issue, Last Friday 16th Feb they downloaded many updates including HP driver etc. Since then, have had issues with screen display using HDMI cable to a Samsung TV, even though it set to duplicate it works sometimes but today if i move the mouse the laptop screen goes black, and the windows pointer get a little box next to it whilst the laptop is black. In the morning, I need to unplug everting get laptop going then plug all items back in eg mouse keyboard, MDMI cable to TV.
BUT my biggest issue is no sound.
In Device Manager under both “Audio inputs and outputs” and “Sound, video and game controller” it does not show speakers but if i click on view and click on hidden devices then yes they show up in only “Sound, video and game controller” but they are faded when you click on properties, they say "not connected code 45". I borrowed some Logitech speakers from a fiend these I cannot get working.
Not sure if this is a HP or Windows issue.
Microsoft have done an inhouse upgrade to windows then a custom install. thinking I might get them do to a new install of windows 11.
I am a little disappointed in HP as I was told my model will work on windows 11, also through HP Support Assist app these a text to get the best out of your laptop using windows 11, but when you go to HP driver download web site for my model there are only drivers for windows 10 not 11.
It was working on windows 11 until about the 16th of Feb when all the downloads were istalled.
look forward to any assistance on the matter.

Hi @Fredorchid,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're facing several interconnected issues after a series of updates on your HP Pavilion - 15-Cs3087tx running Windows 11. Let's break down the problems and possible solutions:
1. HDMI Display Issues
- Cable and Ports: Ensure the HDMI cable and the ports on both the laptop and the TV are in good condition. Sometimes, physical damage or dust can cause intermittent connectivity issues.
- Graphics Driver Update: Since the issue emerged after updates, it's possible that a driver update might not be fully compatible with your setup. Try rolling back the graphics driver to a previous version through Device Manager or downloading a suitable driver from HP's official website or the graphics hardware manufacturer's site.
- Windows Display Settings: Verify the display settings in Windows to ensure they are configured correctly for your setup. Sometimes, updates can reset or alter these settings.
2. Sound Issues (Code 45)
- Driver Issue: The "not connected code 45" typically indicates a hardware device is not connected to the computer. However, since these are internal speakers, it's more likely a driver or software issue.
- Driver Reinstallation: Try uninstalling the sound drivers from Device Manager, rebooting your laptop, and allowing Windows to reinstall them automatically. Alternatively, download and install the latest audio drivers from HP's website or the audio hardware manufacturer's website.
- Windows Audio Troubleshooter: Run the built-in Windows audio troubleshooter to detect and possibly fix any issues with the audio services or drivers.
3. HP and Windows 11 Compatibility
- Driver Availability: The lack of Windows 11 drivers on HP's website for your model suggests that full compatibility might not be guaranteed. However, Windows 11 is designed to be compatible with most Windows 10 drivers.
4. Next Steps
- Clean Install: If Microsoft's support suggests a clean install of Windows 11, this could resolve the issues by starting fresh, especially if the problems are related to software conflicts or corrupted updates. Ensure you back up all important data before proceeding.
- HP Hardware Diagnostic: Run HP's hardware diagnostic tool to check for any hardware-related issues. This can be accessed through the HP Support Assistant app or by pressing F2 on startup to enter the diagnostic environment.
5. General Recommendations
- Keep System Updated: After resolving these issues, keep your system and drivers up to date to avoid similar problems in the future.
- External Speakers: For the Logitech speakers, ensure they are properly connected and selected as the default playback device
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel571- thanks for the reply.
Sound Issue
Been chatting with Microsoft T3 group as well as HP service support. Microsoft after doing a custom Install of windows ii they say is running correctly. HP are saying the sound it's a software issue. HP wanted to do a reset but had issues in doing image recovery as there was no option for reset. Could get Microsoft to do a new install.
It's interesting all drivers are there but greyed out due to code45. both parties had tried downloading drivers they download but do not work
Display
HP not sure if software or hardware
Interesting HP got me to hold the power button down for 35 seconds as it does some refresh, the flashing stopped until I closed my laptop waited about 20 mins and stated it and the flashing stated again.
Today Mascroft opened it is safe mode tried a few things and once again flickering and black screen stopped. I rebooted laptop still no flashing I closed the laptop waited about 20 mins started it and the flashing once again started.
Interesting
It's just the laptop flashing, the Samsung TV connected by HDMI never flashes.
When laptop is on my desk top it does not flash, I drag the mouse over the search field on task bar, laptop screen goes off. It almost seems once there is a workload the laptop cannot handle it and shuts the laptop screen off or flickers. The other night I was transferring data to my external hard drive and this caused the laptop screen to flicker very fast for a while then went black, it does come back on once task is finished.
The other day everything was unplugged from laptop, I turned it on, i grabbed the laptop and noticed a flicker, i found by gently tapping the laptop case there was a flicker, once I entered pin and got into windows you could hit the laptop case it did not flicker.
COMPUTERS???
seriously considering getting a new computer. it's annoying as I have an old DELL and Toshiba they work fine this HP is only 4 years old and everyone has tried to fix it and is it hardware is it software.
I do not know but you may, are HP laptops the lower end of laptops.
It's disappointing as I was told it was compatible before rolling onto 11, now I am there, there are no drivers for windows 11 so not sure how HP define compatible. Even in my HP support app it shows my model and serial number and there are messages about getting the best out of windows 11, even one on improving sound.
I probably sound a little frustrated.
MY apologies
