15-dc1062nr (HP Omen notebook)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased (in the last few days) an HP Omen laptop, model 15-dc1062nr

At first, I was happy with my purchase, but I soon discovered a major issue: The onboard audio is VERY noisy from the headphone output-jack! There is constant static noise in the background that is VERY audible whenever games, music, or video enter quieter parts, and becomes louder whenever I move my mouse or do anything else like that! I am using a pair of fairly sensitive (dual-driver, one dynamic and one balanced-armature) IEM's, but that should not matter, because: This issue is completely unacceptable in what is supposed to be a GAMING laptop; a gaming laptop should, of course, have the highest quality of audio and video! It is absolutely unacceptable for there to be such noisy static and crackling in the onboard audio that I can hear it while gaming, listening to music, or watching movies or shows.

I have already tried all possible SOFTWARE fixes: I've changed the Realtek drivers back to generic Microsoft audio drivers, but while that SOMEWHAT reduced the background static, it caused the audio to have frequent popping/clicking noises which were even more annoying than the static. I tried installing older and newer Realtek drivers; that changed nothing. I've tried literally every software fix imaginable that I can find anywhere online, but none of them have helped.

This leads me to believe that this is a HARDWARE issue with noisy onboard headphone-jack audio. Again, I will say that is completely unacceptable on a gaming laptop. My old Dell Inspiron, which wasn't even a gaming laptop, had better onboard audio than this does.

What should I do? Did I get a defective laptop? Should I have it replaced under warranty? Or is this a hardware issue common to all laptops of this model (15-dc1062nr)? Is there a software fix I am missing, like a PARTICULAR GENERIC AUDIO DRIVER I should install in place of Realtek that would fix the issue?

Please advise. Thank you.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

To get the answer to this question, B&O software is outdated and replaced with the Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver (Windows 10 v1909)

Click here:https://support.hp.com/si-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/omen-by-hp-15-dc1000-laptop-pc-series/261... to download the new audio driver for your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
