If your HP laptop's microphone works but the speakers do not, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check the Hardware Connections

- For built-in speakers, ensure nothing is plugged into the headphone or speaker jack.
Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter
- Open Control Panel and navigate to Troubleshooting.
- Under Hardware and Sound, select Troubleshoot audio playback.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Update Audio Drivers
- Connect to the internet.
- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the name of your sound hardware, and select Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software and wait for Windows to search and install updates if available.
Run Windows Update
Running Windows Update can install operating system, software, and driver updates.
- In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.
