The headphone jack daughterboard on my omen 16-ap0047nr either buzzes really bad or restricts only the left or right track depending on how I wiggle the cord in the jack. I think it may be a solder issue. In any case, I can’t seem to find a replacement board to save my life. I believe the model number is DAG3TAABAB0. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Poppygoose

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. If the headphone jack on your OMEN 16-ap0047nr produces buzzing audio or only plays through one channel unless the plug is held in a specific position, it is important to determine whether the issue is with the headset, the audio jack itself, or the headphone jack daughterboard (DAG3TAABAB0).

Before considering a replacement part, we can help isolate the source of the issue.

Check if the issue is with the headphones

  1. Test the same headphones on another device such as a phone, tablet, or another PC.
  2. If available, test a second known-good wired headset on the OMEN.
  3. Observe whether both left and right channels work normally on the alternate device.
  4. If multiple headsets show the same behavior only on the OMEN, the laptop hardware becomes the primary suspect.

Check if the issue is with the laptop jack

  1. Insert the headphone plug fully into the jack.
  2. Gently rotate the plug without applying pressure.
  3. Listen for:
    • Crackling or buzzing sounds
    • Audio cutting in and out
    • Audio shifting between left and right channels
  4. Shine a light into the headphone jack and check for:
    • Dust or debris
    • Bent contacts
    • Physical damage inside the connector

Compare with Bluetooth or USB audio

  1. Connect a Bluetooth headset, if available.
  2. Alternatively, connect a USB audio device.
  3. Play audio and verify whether both channels work correctly.
  4. If Bluetooth and USB audio function normally while the 3.5 mm jack does not, the issue is likely isolated to the headphone jack assembly or daughterboard.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Power it on and repeatedly tap F2.
  3. Select Component Tests.
  4. Run the available Audio tests.
  5. Note any failure ID or error message reported.

Check audio through the internal speakers

  1. Disconnect all external audio devices.
  2. Play music or a test video through the notebook speakers.
  3. If the internal speakers sound clear and balanced, the audio codec and main audio circuitry are likely functioning correctly.

Regarding the replacement daughterboard

The part number you provided, DAG3TAABAB0, appears to be the audio/headphone jack daughterboard designation. HP service parts availability can vary by region and model configuration.

The most accurate way to identify the HP spare part number associated with your OMEN 16-ap0047nr is through the HP Maintenance and Service Guide or HP Parts Store resources for that specific product.

If you can share whether:

  • the buzzing occurs with multiple headsets,
  • Bluetooth audio works normally,
  • and whether the audio test in HP Hardware Diagnostics passes,

we can help narrow down whether the issue is most likely the headset, the 3.5 mm jack, or the daughterboard assembly itself.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
