Hi there,
I purchased the omen 16.1 gaming laptop a few (4) months back and whilst overall I am very happy with it there is one issue that has persisted almost from the start.

The issue occurs when playing two audio sources at the same time, such as background music from games together with a youtube video I am listening to, usually triggered by playing the youtube video. The audio starts to stutter and the laptop starts lagging to the point where the game is practically unplayable. When I stop playing the youtube video, the issue is resolved within a second, sometimes two. When I just bought the laptop it occured every now and then and it didn't bother me much, but lately it is becoming an almost instantaneous response when playing a youtube video when playing a game, to the point where I have to stop watching the videos.

I have updated all windows drivers to their latest versions, updated all windows updates, and have the latest AMD drivers installed on the laptop. Furthermore, this issue has been persisting since I bought the machine and I have installed multiple AMD drivers over this time. I cannot pinpoint it to a specific AMD update, as the problem occured with at least 5 versions of AMD adrenalin software installed on the laptop.

Additionally I have ran the HP support/diagnostics tools which state that the machine is in good condition, and the machine passed all the audio tests.

I noticed that it is more likely to happen when the machine is under workload from playing videogames, as it does not seem to occur when playing two youtube videos on two tabs in my browser at the same time, without running a game.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I see that you are facing stuttering issues with your HP Omen 16.1 gaming laptop.

 

Please run the updates from HP Support Assistant by following the steps listed below:
1. Download the current version from this Weblink
2. Click on Updates and Messages to scan for new updates.
3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
You may also refer to the HP document to download and use HP Support Assistant by visiting this Weblink.
