Greetings fellow hp members! I bought a freedos Omen 17 rtx 4060 laptop recently, i installed Windows 11 pro to it and then downloaded drivers from hp drivers website and also i downloaded drivers from windows update as well. When i listen to any kind of audio with my laptop i hear a crackling buzzing sound on the left side of the speakers, this happens when i raise the volume above %70. I heard people saying that this a common problem in Windows 11, can this be the issue? Or is it a driver issue?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Aptullah,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing crackling or buzzing audio on your HP Omen 17 laptop, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check audio cables and connections: Ensure that all audio cables, if any, are securely connected to the appropriate ports on your laptop. If you're using external speakers or headphones, try disconnecting and reconnecting them to see if that makes a difference.
- Update audio drivers: Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause audio issues. Visit the HP support website (hp.com/support) and locate the driver downloads section for your specific Omen 17 model. Look for the latest audio driver and install it on your laptop.
- Adjust sound settings: Open the sound settings on your laptop and check if any enhancements or audio effects are enabled. Disable any effects like equalization or virtual surround sound, as they can sometimes cause audio distortion.
- Disable audio enhancements: Some audio enhancements or features provided by the audio driver or third-party software can interfere with the audio quality. To disable them, right-click the volume icon in the system tray, select "Playback devices," right-click your audio device, choose "Properties," and navigate to the "Enhancements" tab. Disable all enhancements and click Apply.
- Check for software conflicts: Certain applications or background processes can conflict with audio playback and cause crackling or buzzing sounds. Try closing any unnecessary applications running in the background to see if it resolves the issue.
- Scan for malware: Malware infections can sometimes interfere with system processes, including audio playback. Run a full scan with your preferred antivirus software to check for any malware on your system.
- Test with different audio sources: Check if the crackling or buzzing sound occurs with all audio sources, such as online videos, local media files, or during system sounds. This can help identify whether the issue is specific to certain sources or more general.
- Perform a system restart: Restarting your laptop can often resolve temporary software glitches or conflicts that may be causing the audio problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
