HP Notebook - 15-dw1271ng
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi. I installed the Update HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.55.3353.0. After rebooting the onboard Sound is not working anymore. It just makes a sharp, high, crackling noise. As I installed a windows update at the same time, I restored the saving before, but the sound stays the same, as this update is not removed. How can I remove the Update from my computer? I can't find it in programs or in any other places, I could find.

Thank you.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting audio issues on your notebook, I am glad to assist you.

Update the Bios, chipset, and drivers using HP Support Assistant.

Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here

  • HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Updates in the My notebook pane
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Updates list in HP Support Center
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

  • Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Hi,

first, thanks for your answer. It took me a while, because I am not very good in Software solutions and with the programs. I followed your solution. In the HPSA there are no updates. It's the same with the Windows update. It seems, like it is all up to date, as far as I can see. Even BIOS is actual.

The problem however persists. I still have just a high-pitched, screeching sound, whenever the onboard sound is activated. USB Sound devices, HDMI or Bluetooth work without a problem, but the built-in speaker sounds like there would be no bass or depth. When I play music, I can hear it all, but it is like only one speaker is working, and all the depth, bass etc. is gone.

At the moment, while I was writing this, I wanted to check the driver from my audio device. I deactivated audio enhancement from windows, and the sound was almost normal. But it is still not as good as it was, before I installed the HP Inc. - SoftwareComponent - 1.55.3353.0. There are no new drivers for the Realtek Audio Speaker. Is there a possibility to uninstall the Update and to go back to the original setup?

I am not sure if your audio issue is resolved. If it is not I suggest trying the below steps, updating drivers usually does not resolve audio / graphics issues HP support really have no idea. You will need to fully purge the audio and graphics driver (yes the graphics and audio driver share the same driver which is Intel SST). Purge the driver with the below software, on the top right hand side select Audio --> Realtek, then the left hand side select "Clean and do NOT restart"  after that's finished---> then select GPU --->  Intel then select "Clean and restart". After your laptop has restart re install the graphics and audio drivers.
