My internal microphone disappeared. I reinstalled drivers, ran troubleshooters, etc.; rebooted, nothing worked. I finally found the issue. Windows 11's "Phone Link" software installed the driver for my cell phone's microphone into Windows, then disabled and hid my internal microphone. The only solution is to disable the phone link microphone driver, reboot, and then re-enable the internal microphone.
I sent feedback to MS, but have not yet gotten a reply.

Hi @CRCovey,
Thank you for your response.
Thank you for sharing your experience with your HP Envy 17.3-inch Laptop PC 17-cw1000.
We're sorry for the trouble you encountered with your internal microphone disappearing, and we appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot and identify the root cause. Conflicts like this, especially involving third-party drivers such as those introduced by Windows 11 features like Phone Link, can sometimes override internal hardware functionality, as you've seen with your microphone.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue; it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Why are some threads (even some from late last year) locked which have exactly the same problem? My solution is probably the same as their own, but there's no way to show them a solution has been found.
