I bought brand new HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G9 computer and the sound quality is not good. I often have to turn the
volume up to 100% to be able to hear a podcast or something else on the web. I spoke to customer support and told them
about this and that sound was much better on my pervious HP Envy computer. She checked and said that the Envy had
a Sound Boost which the ProBook does not have. Any ideas from anyone?

Hi @dovo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing poor audio quality on your new ProBook 450 G9. There could be several reasons why this is happening. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to improve the audio quality.
- Check the volume levels: Ensure that the volume is turned up and not muted both on your laptop and any external speakers or headphones you may be using.
- Update audio drivers: Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can sometimes cause audio issues. Visit the HP website or use Windows Update to check for the latest drivers and install any updates available for your audio device.
- Test with different audio sources: Try playing audio from different sources, such as online videos, local media files, or streaming services. This will help determine if the issue is specific to certain applications or across the board.
- Adjust sound settings: Open the sound settings on your laptop and make sure the correct playback device is selected. You can also try adjusting the audio enhancements or equalizer settings to see if it improves the quality.
- Test with external devices: If you're using external speakers or headphones, try connecting them to a different device to see if the issue persists. This will help identify whether the problem lies with the laptop or the external audio equipment.
- Disable audio enhancements: Some audio enhancements or effects, such as surround sound or equalizers, may interfere with the audio quality. Disable any additional audio enhancements and see if it improves the audio output.
- Scan for malware: Malware or viruses can sometimes affect system performance, including audio quality. Run a thorough scan with a reputable antivirus software to ensure your system is clean.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
