Hi @Sebastian113,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your laptop's audio drivers. It must be incredibly frustrating to deal with this issue, especially after trying multiple fixes. Let's figure this out together.

  • Did you notice any specific error messages when attempting to install the Realtek audio driver, or does the installation just fail silently?
  • Have you tried using Windows' built-in audio troubleshooter, and if so, what was the outcome?
  • After resetting Windows, did you check if the audio device is visible in Device Manager, even as a hidden or unknown device?

Let's try these steps.

Uninstall Audio Drivers Completely:

  • Go to Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • If Realtek Audio is listed, right-click it and select Uninstall device. Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device.
  • Restart your laptop and let Windows attempt to reinstall the default audio driver automatically.

Check Hidden Devices in Device Manager:

  • In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Look for any audio devices listed as hidden, unknown, or flagged with an exclamation mark. If you find one, uninstall it and restart your computer.

Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and follow the recommendations provided.

Download Realtek Driver from HP Support Website:

  • Visit the HP support page and download the specific Realtek audio driver for your laptop model.
  • Before installing, ensure you disable your antivirus temporarily to prevent installation issues.
  • Install the driver in compatibility mode if it fails the first time (right-click the installer, go to Properties, then select Run in compatibility mode for Windows 10/11).

Reset Audio Services:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Locate the following services:
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
  • Restart each service (right-click > Restart) and check if the audio functionality is restored.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
