I tried each of your possible solution suggestions. All of them were very relevant to my problem. One of the solutions I was hoping to be able solve the issue was installing the Realtek driver from the HP Support site. I downloaded the only driver available, but when running the downloaded driver I got the response "Program not installed". I thought that the reason might be that a driver was already installed. I wanted to delete the installed driver and then try running the driver install again. Since I didn't know how to delete the old driver I could not continue.  If you have additional suggestions, I would be happy to try them.

@John_Sti, Thanks so much for the update—and for trying all those steps with such patience. I totally get how frustrating it must be to hear sound for a moment, only to have it disappear again. Let’s try a fresh start with the audio driver. Here’s how to uninstall the current driver completely before reinstalling:

Uninstall Old Audio Driver:

Press Windows + X, then select Device Manager.

Expand Sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click on Realtek Audio (or whichever audio device shows), then click Uninstall device.

Tick the box that says “Delete the driver software for this device”, then click Uninstall.

Restart your laptop. It’ll reinstall a basic driver automatically.

Once that’s done and the system settles, try running the Realtek installer from HP Support again.

Let’s breathe a bit of life back into your audio—it deserves to be heard clearly. Let me know how it goes, I’m right here with you every step of the way! 🎧

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
