The USB-turntable cannot be connected. The notebook sees the USB-connection (Recordmaster USB Audio 2.0) as a speaker), whereas this is the input to the notebook (to record vinyl-records).

@JandenH, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with USB turntables like the Pro-Ject Debut Recordmaster USB on Windows 11, where the system defaults to detecting USB audio devices as output rather than input. Let’s work through the steps to set up your turntable as an audio input for recording vinyl on your HP ENVY x360.
Here's how to fix it:
- Check the Recording Devices
- Right-click the 🔊 sound icon in the taskbar.
- Select "Sound settings."
- Scroll down to “Advanced” and click on “More sound settings” (this opens the classic Control Panel view).
- Go to the "Recording" tab.
- Look for "USB Audio Device" or "Recordmaster USB Audio 2.0."
- If you see it:
- Right-click and select Enable if it’s disabled.
- Right-click again and choose Set as Default Device.
- Speak or play something from the turntable to test the input levels.
- Use a Recording App that Supports USB Input
- Use software that allows you to manually select the audio input source, such as:
- Audacity (Free and very popular).
- In Audacity, go to Edit > Preferences > Devices.
- Under Recording > Device, choose Recordmaster USB Audio 2.0.
- Record and test your levels.
- Use software that allows you to manually select the audio input source, such as:
- Avoid Using Windows Voice Recorder
- The built-in Voice Recorder app might not detect the turntable properly because it often defaults to the system microphone and doesn’t allow you to change the source.
- The built-in Voice Recorder app might not detect the turntable properly because it often defaults to the system microphone and doesn’t allow you to change the source.
- Check Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Ensure that "Microphone access" and "Let apps access your microphone" are enabled.
- Scroll down and make sure Audacity (or your chosen app) has permission to access the microphone.
🧪 Optional: Verify the USB Turntable Driver
- Normally, the USB turntable uses a generic USB Audio Class 2.0 driver, which is built into Windows.
- You can verify this by:
- Going to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click Recordmaster USB Audio 2.0 and select Properties.
- Check the driver status. If needed, uninstall it and let Windows reinstall it automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the answer, it was clear and I could follow the steps that were suggested. The problem is that Projectmaster USB Audio 2.0 is not shown under the Recording-tab, but is shown under Line out / Speaker (the first tab).
Therefore my problem is not solved.
Any other options ?

The problem is now solved, one other suggestion from you made me check the options on the Microphone. One option "Sound-recorder" was disabled. I enabled it and I think that this did the trick.
Thanks very much for your feedback
