So, I know my laptop is an older model, but I am having a strange issue. Lately, I have been hearing a random beep, not through my headphones but what seems like a built in speaker on the motherboard. It happens at completely random intervals, and lasts about 1 1/2 seconds.
Event Viewer sheds no light on any possible error that could be causing this.
I have opened up the laptop, cleaned out the dust, applied thermal paste, and checked all the connections on hardware, everything seems fine.
Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else encountered this?

Hi @WolfyFriend,
Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips, Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand the computer is not booting into the windows anymore,
To provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What is the sequence of the beep? (Example: Is it one long 3 short beep, in a loop)
What is the product number of this computer? (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you performed any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
Please click on the below links once you identify the blink code and resolve the issue:

Actually, it does this beep while Windows 10 (64bit) is fully loaded.
I checked Event Viewer after one of these beeps, and there is no error that would cause it.
Another thing, its a beep about 1 1/2 seconds long, followed by a clicking sound. Completely random intervals, so I cannot post a recording. The computer could be idle and make this noise.

Hi @WolfyFriend, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @Jeet_singh, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thanks for the reply and providing more information.
Recommend you to make sure all the drivers are updated using HP Support Assistant. Click here to know more. (BIOS and chipset mainly.)
Run an extensive system test on your computer to make sure all the components are working correctly. Click here for assistance.
If the test passes, please boot the computer to BIOS by tapping F10 repeatedly on startup.
Once you have booted the computer to BIOS, please restore the BIOS settings to defaults, save the setting and exit.
Restart the computer and observe the computer.
Sometimes if the computer overheats it might beep as a warning. Recommend you to clean the vents on the computer to remove any dust.
Have you made any hardware changes on your computer?
Keep me posted.
If the information I've provided was helpful,
Please give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accepted Solution" and "Kudos" buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

I have modded my system, I went from 4gb of RAM to 16gb.
One thing that could be causing it, but had a delayed reaction? The 4gb stick of RAM that came in my laptop was 1.5v, while the 2 sticks of 8gb each I put in were 1.35v. I haven't noticed an issue, and this is a relatively new occurence happening.
I am also on the default BIOS settings, and I currently cannot run the extensive system test, but I will get back to you on the results of that tomorrow.
Another thing, my laptop is almost constantly overheating. I have reapplied thermal paste on the processor, and cleaned the vents, but 1 single fan along with 1 pretty long heat pipe and a tiny heatspreader is not doing me any good.
Currently as I am typing this message, CoreTemp says my processor is 63 celcius, but I am constantly reaching the TJ max of 96 celcius.

Hi @WolfyFriend,
Thanks for the update,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
Please take your time and get back to me with the test results,
I'll be awaiting your response and would be glad to help.
If the PC beeps, I would suggest you remove all the RAM and then insert only the 4gb ram which came with the PC and check how it works.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

I am unable to run the extensive test. I have tried, but it is not already in my PC and downloading isn't working. The link on the site to download just takes me to the HP Store.
I have on the other hand ran Memtest86 off of a Linux Live CD, it showed no errors with my RAM.
