Hi!
I'm running into a problem where I'll have my computer on while I'm working, and it will randomly emit an unbearably loud and high pitched "beep" kind of noise. I've looked this up many times and haven't found anyone else running into this problem, but I figured I'd give the forums a shot. It will happen regardless of my volume level on my computer (even completely muted) and I don't see any coincidence between each incident. It doesn't happen usually, maybe once every couple days, but a few days ago it happened twice in five minutes.
If you have any clarification questions, please reply.
Thanks,
Danny

Hello, @dannys4 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for reaching out! I’d like to help with you Spectre notebook issue!
I understand that the HP Spectre is making a high pitched noise while running programs. Is the noise coming while charging the laptop or while running on the battery? Also, where exactly is the sound coming from? Is it from the speakers or from a different source? Please let me know.
I would first suggest you update the BIOS to try and fix this issue. Try to use HP Support Assistant to download the necessary drivers to update the old ones.
HP Support Assistant is a software program designed to help you keep your computer in working order, prevent potential problems from arising, and resolve problems quickly and easily. The program also provides valuable system information that you need when troubleshooting computer problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2gFA6Q8 to install the HP SA if you do not have it already.
Also, if you have the HP SA installed then go to http://hp.care/2gqoIri and follow the steps under “Checking for HP updates’ to find and install the updates.
You can also go to http://hp.care/2bjHn5I and enter the product number to get the driver download page. Select BIOS to download and update the notebook BIOS. Restart the notebook once done with the update.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Cheers 🙂

Hi,
As the noise happens infrequently, I am unsure if the problem is fixed. However, I did download and install the BIOS update for the notebook. My HP Support application did not, though, show any available updates for the device, so I manually downloaded and installed it. I am unaware of the battery state of my laptop when the noise is emitted, so I cannot share that information. If the noise does not occur in the next week, I will consider the noise fixed.
Thanks,
Danny

This problem seems similar to mine. I have an Envy M6 with BeatsAudio. Just recently, for no reason I can identify, the audio system is CONSTANTLY running some high pitched series of signals: I'd say it sounds like a cheesy 1950's sci-fi movie soundtrack. I've download the latest driver but not BIOS yet. I'm using Windows 10 (64 bit).

Hello again!
As of about 5 minutes ago, my computer emitted the sound again. Some more information about it is that my computer was not plugged in, and it seems as if the sound is actually two frequencies emitted simultaneously for about one to two full seconds. Any other suggestions aside from the BIOS update or HP Support Assistant updates?
Thanks,
Danny

I found my Solution at:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/03668ee1-df07-42a0-b6ab-e08226ffc157
Yes, I had tried Update Driver, and Update BIOS. No help. I had scanned the horizon for a fix (too much time!).
Finally, my search lead me to the above link, which instructed me to Uninstall/Reinstall Beats Audio... in SafeMode. I had noticed in Control Panel/Device Manager that I had TWO separate audio "devices": Beats and Realtek. In SafeMode Programs Uninstall I only saw the Realtek, and I uninstalled it, expecting to have to reinstall.
Nope, it fixed the problem. That's after endless trial and error, and searches. Thanks to Niranjan Manjhi!

Hello ,
This has happened to my brand new hp Spectre a couple of times. Only the right speaker makes the weird noise. One day the right speaker completely stopped working. Did you find any solution to the problem?
