Here it is November 3rd and I still am having this issue. The kicker? I'm a teacher who may need to go virtual again soon and I NEED A FUNCTIONING COMPUTER - I just bought this one at the beginning of September and have had this issue ever since. When is this going to get cleared up?! I need to be able to use this laptop to Zoom for many, many hours as a virtual educator and it's not possible if the whole sound system shuts down every single time I video chat (Zoom, Messenger, Google Meet... all the same).

I ended up returning my for a full refund. I know you are outside of your return windows @Mrs_Brown but I would push HP for a return and refund. If that doesn't work I would initiate a chargeback via credit card, if you paid with a credit card. I spent hours with HP support and they blamed it on Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet. It is obviously a driver problem and HP is ignoring it. It's really sad because Envy x360 would be a wonderful laptop if not for the audio crashing.

Try this - Go to Device Manager, "Sound, video and game controller", right click on AMD High Definition Audio, and select disable. Also, use either a USB or a wireless bluetooth microphone. We disabled the driver and are using a Yeti Nano and have had no problems for weeks. Even did a Windows Update and no new problems after that.

I am having the same issues with my speakers with my Envy 15m-ee0023dx. I tried to follow these instructions and when I try to install this driver I get the message that this driver is not compatible with OS Version 10.0.19042. What am I supposed to do to resolve this issue? I have only had this computer for a few months and the fact that the sound works and then doesn't work makes it impossible for me to count on using my computer for virtual meetings.

I'm waiting for my PC to come back from support to see if they've fixed the issue (also they've remplaced my fans). In the meanwhile I recommend using an external DAC or Bluetooth device, where it seems that the problem is not present.
A kind lady from the service center confirmed to me that it is a driver issue with Windows 10. (Others in the HP center said it was a Zoom/Classroom or Teams issue. I had to prove them that the audio crashes even in games (like Rocket League) at the exact moment when you try to enable the microphone (and also on Skype) 🤦♂️)
10 days calling each day to explain them that it needs a fix... The worse part is that the lady was ready to send back my PC for repairs and then HP gave me another person 🤦♂️
I've made 7 videos of my problem and nearly 10 mails... I hope they've fixed my problem...
Edit: 3 days ago I've received back my laptop. fans now are new and they doesn't run randomly but they almost makes that whistle sound... So the cause is probably the grills on the back. For the audio for now It's okay... But i've discovered that there's no support for 24 bit audio. Why?

Does this fix the issue for The Envy 15z-ds100 CTO? It is the same issue with the audio drivers crashing and there is no audio for days. There are many forums with this one issue but I can't find a single answer that applies to them all. Is there a defect with all the convertible Envy's in this generation? It needs a fix. Especially in 2020. Unfortunately I have missed the month return period because I am in school away from home. This is unacceptable. (Maybe that is why the machine is named after a vice haha). I really hope it can be fixed. I know HP is now working on next year's generation now but this has to be fixed or this machine is a brick. I do audio related work.
