I have this exact issue. I have been told the fix above many times, but when I go to device manager/sound devices, Realtek is not there at all. I have tried to re-install it but this also does not work.

Hi @AM199

You must indicate the laptop model and please explain what you have done to solve it.

OK, please bear with me, my computer knowledge is minimal. I have an HP pavilion plus 14 inch laptop, running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit Version: 22631.4169

I have had the message "no audio device is installed" since doing an update on 9/5/24.

It has often been recommended that I look for Realtek audio driver under sounds, video, and game controllers, but that is not there. The only things there are:

NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

and my Zvox headphones (which do work, that is the only way I can hear sound at this point).

I tried downloading Realtek but that does not seem to work.

I did a system restore back to May of this year but the problem is still there.

I talked to a Microsoft person online for a couple of hours, they tried a few things, including reinstalling my Windows, but the problem was not fixed.

I tried the audio testing options on the HP support center but they just say I don't have an audio driver.

I even tried an audio test in the BIOS startup (and that made a noise!) but did not solve the problem.

What now? I have seen comments from some people with similar problems that they had to get a new motherboard or a new computer, I am not going to do that since I just bought this HP last year based on recommendations that it is the best laptop. I would rather just use my headphones forever if I have to.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

First of all, to help you, it is necessary to know the model of the computer, what is the model of your computer?

I installed all four of those, then I restarted my computer. Nothing has changed, still no audio. Do I need to "run" the programs that I downloaded?

I don't understand this question, when you download these drivers, clearly you double click on these files to install them.

Yes, I did that, but after they install nothing seems to happen

Check the device manager to see if you have unrecognized drivers, and check the model support page to see if you have updated the BIOS.
