My audio and microphone have stopped working and Settings cannot detect any audio software. In a search, it seems that some people experience issues with Realtek audio driver updates, including not updating after certain versions. Can anyone throw any light on my issue? Many thanks.

Hi @wally96
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, It sounds like you're facing an issue with your HP ENVY 13 where the audio and microphone have stopped working, and Windows 11 isn't detecting any audio drivers. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve this:
1. Restart Your Laptop
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve issues with drivers and hardware.
2. Check Audio Settings
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Open Sound settings.
- Ensure the correct output device is selected (e.g., speakers or headphones).
- Scroll down and check the input device for the microphone.
3. Reinstall Audio Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click your Realtek Audio device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
- If it doesn't, reinstall it manually from the HP support site or Realtek’s website.
4. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Playing Audio and Recording Audio troubleshooters to identify and fix any issues.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Ensure your system is up to date, as updates can include important fixes for drivers.
6. Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup).
- Check that internal audio is enabled in the Advanced or Device Configuration tab.
