Hi  @rishab506

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that the audio quality on your laptop has suddenly become unclear and hazy, especially after you've already tried troubleshooting, updating drivers, and even rolling back to a previous driver version. I can certainly understand how important clear audio is for daily use, and I'll do my best to help.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm a few details?

  • Is the unclear audio present on the laptop speakers, headphones, or both?
  • Do you notice the audio issue while playing all types of content (YouTube, music files, meetings, games), or only with specific applications?

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

1. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics Audio Test

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly tap Esc.
  3. Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  4. Navigate to Component Tests > Audio and run the test.

Kindly let us know whether the test passes and if the audio sounds normal during the diagnostics.

2. Disable Audio Enhancements

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
  2. Select Sound Settings.
  3. Click your audio output device.
  4. Scroll down to Audio Enhancements and set it to Off.
  5. Test the audio again.

3. Reinstall the Audio Driver

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click Realtek(R) Audio and select Uninstall device.
  4. Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device if available.
  5. Restart the notebook.
  6. Install the latest audio driver available for your model from HP Support..

4. Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter

  1. Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Run the Audio troubleshooter.
  3. Apply any recommendations provided.

I hope this helps.

The audio is unclear in laptop speaker only, in headphone it is working fine and the issue is while playing all types of content such as YouTube, music/video files.
I have tried all the 4 steps mentioned but the issue still persists.

Kindly help.

Hi @rishab506,

Thank you for getting back to us. I understand that the audio from the laptop speakers is unclear, especially when you've already tried all the troubleshooting steps and the issue still persists. I appreciate your efforts in performing the recommended steps.

Since the sound works correctly through headphones and the issue occurs only with the laptop's built-in speakers across all types of content (YouTube, music, and video files), this may require advanced troubleshooting and further hardware/software diagnosis. At this point, I would recommend contacting our HP Phone Support team for real-time assistance. They can perform a more in-depth analysis and guide you through additional diagnostics to determine whether this is related to the speaker hardware, audio drivers, or system configuration.
