I have a HP Notebook 15g-br001tx on which the problem is occuring. The laptop previously showed Realtek High Definition Audio Device in the device manager under the sound, vedio, and game controllers section which now only shows 2 intel display audio options. However, after the laptop automatically updated the drivers for the device, it has vanished from device manager and third party driver update softwares (which i have not used for updating any drivers and installed after the problem occured following an online solution guide to the problem ) show it as unplugged. Even the Realtek audio control center is not opening up since the automatic driver update. Please help in solving this problem.

Try resetting your laptop, it should help. (Make a backup of your data before resetting as everything will get erased). If you do not have an option for backup you could try the option to keep your files and reset everything else to default and it should work.
