I have problems with the Realtek High Definition Audio driver. Since I formatted it for the first time, this driver disappeared, and apparently, they removed the download links for the driver for this laptop.

I already tried to give it through the legacy drivers, but it doesn't work anymore, since only 1 option appears.

The issue is that every time I try, it gives me the blue screen with the error Rtkvhd64.sys and it wouldn't let me continue, I already tried downloading it from others like these 3

https://www.realtek.com/Download/List?cate_id=593

And none of them work for me, the problem is that the microphone on the 3.5mm jack headphones doesn't work. I've already tried using some open-source ones that they recommended to me, nothing, and supposedly all the drivers are already updated according to the page.

I've tried everything, including the AI assistant, and nothing. Can you help me? I don't know what to do anymore, really.

Hi @Lone_Hyxs,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You’re having trouble reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio driver after formatting and attempting to install it on HP Notebook - 15-da0026la, which leads to a blue screen error (Rtkvhd64.sys). Your 3.5mm headphone mic isn’t recognised, and HP’s site no longer provides the specific driver.

Step 1: Check and Install Drivers from HP Support

HP recommends using the official driver tailored for your notebook.
Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the HP Software & Driver Downloads page:
HP Notebook - 15-da0026la Software and Driver Details
  2. Under the Driver – Audio section, download and install the available Realtek High Definition Audio driver.
  3. Restart your notebook after installation.

Step 2: Roll Back or Use Microsoft Generic Audio Driver

If the Realtek driver results in a blue screen:

  1. Right-click on the Start Menu and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click on Realtek Audio and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall.
  5. Restart your system.
  6. After the reboot, Windows should install the generic High Definition Audio Device driver.

Step 3: Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

It’s important to keep your system firmware and chipset updated:

  1. Visit: HP Notebook - 15-da0026la Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
  2. Download and install them, then restart your notebook.

Step 4: Microphone Configuration

If your 3.5mm microphone still isn’t working after the correct driver installation:

  1. Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and open Sounds.
  2. Go to the Recording tab.
  3. Right-click in the list and ensure Show Disabled Devices is checked.
  4. Enable the microphone if listed.
  5. Right-click the microphone and set it as the Default Device and Default Communication Device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
