Hi @fhariQ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is this microphone built into your laptop, or is it an external one you’re plugging in?
  • Have you recently updated Windows or your audio drivers?
  • When you say it shows as “Unplugged” in diagnostics, do you see any other microphone devices listed there?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try in the meantime:

  • Check hidden devices: In the Recording tab, right‑click anywhere in the device list and make sure Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices are checked. Sometimes the microphone is hidden by default.
  • Set default manually: If the Realtek microphone appears after enabling hidden devices, right‑click it and select Set as Default Device.
  • Update drivers: Open Device Manager → expand Sound, video and game controllers → right‑click Realtek Audio → choose Update driver. You can also reinstall the driver from your PC manufacturer’s support page.
  • Check physical connection: If it’s an external mic, ensure it’s firmly plugged into the correct port (usually the pink jack for analog mics, or USB if applicable).
  • Run Windows Troubleshooter: Go to Settings → System → Sound → scroll down to Troubleshoot under Input devices.

I hope this helps.
