My realtek audio driver automatically updated to version 6.0.9414.1 and now the volume is constantly loud and when I change the volume the number changes but the volume stays loud. I downloaded a driver from the HP website for my laptop which is version 6.0.9381.1 and I downloaded something called 'sp141454' and once I ran that it made another folder called 'SWSetup'. However I don't know how to install that older driver so I'm stuck with the broken version.

I have a similar laptop (9WD42AV). The new Realtek audio driver is broken, at least for this laptop. I rolled back the driver to 6.0.9381.1 in Device Manager and then the volume works again.

I rolled it back and gave the reason in the "other" category. Perhaps if enough people notify them they'll fix it. I was removing the driver before and after a couple logins it would automatically update it. Hopefully the rollback sticks so I don't have to keep doing it.
