Hello dear support, unfortunately I have recently found a serious problem with my Windows 10 Realtek audio.
Let me explain, while trying to update my Realtek audio driver to the latest version, I realized that following the update and reboot, the installation of the new driver was successful, the sound card was activated and default, everything was okay, but my computer had completely lost audio!! At that point I tried to do "restore driver", the restore was successful, the driver version was back to the previous one, restarted, but still no audio! I then restored entire Windows to a previous restore point and fortunately the audio was there again. Later, trying to understand, I tried to install other versions of the Realtek driver including the one recommended by my HP manufacturer (that should always work) and here the dramatic discovery: again no audio output (even here, peripherals were ok, sound card activated by default, audio icon working properly and no signs of malfunction ... just no sound!). Again as before I had to restore all Windows to the previous restore point.
In short, my audio seems to work only in the conditions in which it is found at the restore point, I am talking about CONDITIONS more generally and not about drivers, because, as explained above, if I just restore the driver, restart, verify that in fact the driver has returned to the previous version and that everything is in order, this is not enough! Audio does not return! I always have to go back entirely to the previous Windows restore point. Resuming, it seems that everytime a change is attempted in audio driver, sound crashes and have to restore window, It's something related to "driver environment".
I was hoping to solve everything simply by letting it go and remaining in the previous audio conditions, the problem is that in the next official Windows update I saw that audio driver will be included, so from now it will no longer be a matter of my will, it will be mandatory to update the driver and I will be condemned to run out of audio (it's not an hypothesis I have already try last windows update, the audio is obviously gone and I had to restore once again. For now I am acting by postponing the Windows update, but this can't last forever ...)
Could you help me ???? Thanks

Hi @Mattomen
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are facing audio-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.
May I know from when are you facing this issue?
Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it apart from what you have mentioned?
May I know from where were you updating the Realtek driver? Was it from the support site or the HP support assistant app?
Also, may I know where version have you tried updating?
Keep me posted.
Thanks!

Hi thanks for your reply!
Never did any change, everything in my system is original and official as at purchase time.
What's happening:
by default my computer have got 4 official audio driver versions to be installed from the device management. Whatever change i attempt among these versions my audio goes away and even if I rollback to the previous driver version, audio doesn't come back. Everytime I'm forced to restore the entire windows to a previous point to have my sound back.
I make specific examples to help understanding:
i'm now in the Realtek 6.0.9091.1 driver version and sound is working. If I go to device management and change to any other version such as the previews 6.0.9079.1, or the newest released by Windows 6.0.9282.1, the audio goes away. Not only it does so, but as I said, if I rollbak driver to 6.0.9091.1 audio doesn't come back thereafter. The only way to fix it is go back to a Windows restore point.
I just recently discovered this problem after windows updated my audio driver, but i don't think it is related to the update, because it makes the same problem over any version of the driver (older and newer). The last update just made me aware of that.
Now, the problem is that, for now I solved restoring Windows and postponing Windows Update 15 days ago already, but soon i won't be able to postpone it again. At that point driver will be automatically updated and restore point won't be a resource anymore because windows will force me to stay up to date from there on.
Ps: when i install, installations of drivers are succesfull and sound board and system are ok, I just notice no sound and an error in the event viewer saying "AUDIODG.EXE".
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your response.
This looks like a software issue. I would suggest you please use the link below and perform an Operating System Reinstallation to resolve it.
